TO BIVOUAC
BIVOUAC AREA OF THE SOOR (BAELEN / EUPEN)
ENJOY A NIGHT IN THE FOREST ONLY A STONE'S THROW FROM THE CITY OF EUPEN.
This bivouac area is located in one of the largest forests in Belgium, the Hertogenwald, near Eupen, at the foot of the High-Fens plateau and at the confluence of the Soor and Hill rivers.
The bivouac area is located in one of the most extensive forests in Belgium, the Hertogenwald, at the foot of the High-Fens plateau. It is accessible all year round except for a few days during the hunting season (October – December).
You can spend a night in this bivouac area. It is intended for hikers, cyclists and horse riders but not for motorised vehicles.
This bivouac area is managed by the Walloon Agency of Nature and Forests (DNF) of the Verviers cantonment. Regular checks are carried out by DNF officers, who can fine disrespectful visitors.
Practical information
– No toilets on site.
– There is no drinking water on site.
– There is a river on the edge of the bivouac area.
– Unless otherwise indicated at the entrance to the area (in times of drought or strong winds), a small campfire is allowed in the designated areas (stone fire ring).
– It is forbidden to cut wood or damage nature for the purpose of making a fire.
– The area must be kept clean and users are obliged to take their rubbish with them.
– It is requested to respect other campers, the river and nature (silence and cleanliness)
